Freedoom News — 2017-03-15: Freedoom 0.11.2 released Go to Source
Solving a few more issues found in the previous release, this point release is more dry than the last one, but we hope that it just refines the game to make it better than before.
-Missing multiplayer starts have been added to several levels. No map should be lacking anymore.
-A few mapping errors were repaired by changing sector heights. Speedrunners can better appreciate smooth flow through the levels.
-Easy and normal difficulty levels have been tweaked.
-Par times for Phase 1 have been added.
-Cleaned up title screen using the Freedoom font for Phase 1 and Phase 2 on screen.
Freedoom News — 2017-02-22: Freedoom 0.11.1 released Go to Source
We’ve had quite a good reception for 0.11 and are thankful to everyone sending feedback, both praise and criticism, we use it all for improving Freedoom further! This point release repairs a few deficiencies found in the 0.11 release, and adds new resources.
-1% armor bonus pickups are recolored from red to green. They were too easily confused for health pickups.
New TNT: Evilution-compatible textures.
New pain bringer and pain lord sprites, replacing old concept art-derived ones.
A few map errors are fixed, including misaligned textures, leftover Boom specials, and it should no longer be possible to get stuck between a rock and a tree in Phase 1 C1M1.
Brand new Phase 1 C3M1, replacing an old Doom-inspired level.
Widescreen statusbar for ZDoom was removed. This created incompatibility with some mods, and mod compatibility is prefered over visual enhancements.
Fixed intermission text after using the secret exit in Phase 2 MAP31, where obituary texts were incorrectly displayed instead.
More new music tracks, providing better vanilla compatibility.
Doom (1993) News — We’re simplifying the id Software Steam Store Listings Go to Source
Spanning across multiple decades, id Software’s library of work is as vast as it is full of amazing games.
However, this means a number of the id’s offerings have been released or reiterated in ways that can make our digital storefronts a touch…confusing. Rather than write out the differences between Final DOOM, Ultimate DOOM and just DOOM, we’re consolidating our Steam library of titles! For those id Software experts that do know all the variations of our games released on Steam, bear with us as we simplify how our games appear so that newcomers have an easier time.
HERE’S THE PLAN:
Starting August 10, we will begin rolling out changes to our Steam Store listings for select id Software games. In short, we are consolidating each game under one major title and/or changing the title for a simpler shopping experience.
Below will detail our current plans for Steam consolidation and how it affects your current Steam library if you’ve purchased these games already. And don’t worry, even if we are delisting a title you currently own, you’ll still have the game in your library to download and play like always.
Without further ado, the lowdown:
DOOM (1993) We will be changing the name of Ultimate DOOM in the Steam Store to DOOM (1993). No other major changes are being made at this time.
DOOM II DOOM II will include Final DOOM and Master Levels as one install package.
Doom (1993) News — Mouse Fix Update Released Go to Source
A small update has been released for our modern DOOM and DOOM II ports today. The only change is a fix for FPS dependent mouse sensitivity. Your sensitivity will feel different for the same slider value compared to before, however it will now feel more consistent, especially at higher framerates when vertical sync is disabled.

Note for existing users
The unmodified, original DOS version running under DOSBox is still available! When launching the game, select “Launch DOS version” and you will have access to the previous version.
Added Steam Support
Anyone who already owns either The Ultimate DOOM or DOOM II: Hell On Earth on Steam will automatically receive the new re-releases in their libraries. The original DOS versions are still available as a separate launch option from within Steam, and the original DOS IWAD files are in their original location on disk. Please note: if you have modified the files in the Steam install folder directly, some files may be overwritten. You should not modify files in the Steam folder directly, as this may cause issues. Anyone who purchases Steam copies of DOOM or DOOM II: Hell On Earth in the future; it will default to the re-releases but can access the original DOS versions as a separate launch option from within Steam.
Added widescreen rendering support
For the first time in an official port, the original DOOM renderer has been modified to natively render 16:9 without any letterboxing. The FOV has been increased to reveal more image on the side instead of chopping off the top and bottom. All new 16:9 versions of the titlescreen, intermission, and ending screens have been added. Many of our Add-Ons have also had widescreen support added, so download the latest version from the Add-Ons listing to check it out!

We’re stoked to announce our celebratory update, which brings the widely loved community mod ‘xPatch’ into the official fold, as well as other improvements! This update is jam-packed with exciting new features, enhancements, and bug fixes that will elevate your POSTAL 2 experience to a whole new level.
Some of the standout additions include improved Steam Deck compatibility, the Two Weeks In Paradise game mode (Paradise Lost), a reworked New Game menu, and a new “Ludicrous” difficulty. Plus, we’ve added the Flipping the Bird feature from Paradise Lost into the base P2, expanded Crosshair Customization, and introduced the super-fun Cat Launcher as a cheat-only weapon!
We’ve also made some significant changes to the game, such as restoring the original number of particles for blood effects, improving Muzzle Flash Effects, and adding new weapon options like Cat Silencers now being usable on more weapons, and dual-wielding Sawn-Off Shotguns. During the apocalypse, bystanders will now use more weapons too, making for a more thrilling and chaotic experience!
Furthermore, those who want to enjoy POSTAL 2 as it was in 2003 can now play ‘Classic’ mode, which presents the game closer to how it was at launch, before all the modern updates (while still retaining various modern quality of life improvements such as widescreen support). You can even cherry-pick which aspects of the game you’d like to see as either original or updated, how cool is that?
