Project Warlock II News — Finding a Path to Fix Collisions Go to Source
Hey Warlocks!
Welcome to the first Project Warlock patch of 2024! After the initial bugfixes of Chapter 2, we wanted to go back to the drawing board and take on major issues that players encountered every once in a while. We want to share what we learned, and shed some light on the whole process of preparing this patch.
Our main focus were issues related to collision detection and monsters’ pathfinding. We’ve been receiving reports of players falling through the map out of nowhere, or have no collision with some of the objects at all. On the surface it seemed like an easy issue to eliminate, however it proved to be quite a nuisance. First of all, the collision issues were hard to reproduce, and here’s where all the reports from players come in. They proved to be invaluable to our dev and QA teams.
It took days upon days to find a solution which wouldn’t produce any issues and after extensive internal testing. We learned that the game was basically overloaded with all the physics calculations. By reducing the usage of physics, we managed to eliminate both issues at the same time. If you notice something still acting up, make sure to let us know.
Apart from the bugfixes we’ve also increased the item collection distance by 50%, reworked item physics to reduce CPU overhead, so it should improve the overall performance of the game.

The DUSK SDK is getting a sizeable update today! With better Quake and Half Life map support as well as the ability to make ENDLESS LEVELS, fixing some major bugs and advanced music scripting!
New Entities
info_playlist
Creates a music playlist. Give this entity a targetname, and assign a sequence of music tracks by setting track0, track1, and so on to music file paths.
trigger_playlist
Activates a music playlist. Set the target to the targetname of an info_playlist entity, then trigger the trigger_playlist in order to begin playback. You can set shuffle to 1 to enable shuffling of the playlist, and loop to 1 to cause the playlist to loop. When a playlist is looping, you can use a trigger_changemusic trigger to stop it.
point_template
Used for creating enemy templates that are later spawned with a trigger. Refer to the Source point_template documentation for further details. DUSK additionally supports specifying teleportfx 1 to spawn teleporter particles on each enemy spawned.
info_endless_node
This entity will trigger its target when a new wave begins, if the current wave is greater than or equal to its first_wave property. The last_wave property can be used to disable an info_endless_node starting from a specific wave.
trigger_remove_target
This entity will immediately delete any entities it is targeting when it is triggered.

CULTIC News — CULTIC – Survival Mode Patch (Beta) Go to Source
Good afternoon all!
I’ve pushed a small patch to the Beta branch with a potential fix for the long-standing bug that some Survival players may have encountered where the game starts to fall apart during particularly long sessions – shots start going through enemies, players are unable to walk up stairs properly, and other physics issues.
Due to a nudge from the community and some additional clues I picked up from the Unity Discussions boards, I was able to *finally* replicate this extremely elusive issue and fix it in at least one case! The issue was being caused by a specific enemy’s projectile clipping through the map in rare instances and falling forever below the map. When the object’s position reached absurdly high numerical values, Unity’s physics engine would start having issues, causing raycasts to fail among other things.
This specific projectile was given a despawn timer to prevent this from occurring, and other projectiles were given similar safeguards even though they haven’t caused issues yet.
Additionally, I added a couple of logging measures to help identify any future culprits. When you Quit to Menu, a check will automatically be performed for any out-of-bounds objects. You can manually trigger this check by typing “oobcheck” into the in-game dev console. This will not show any information in-game but will dump info into the game’s logs.

Embark on a thrilling new adventure as Sam Stone, which will take you through a vast array of environments, from eerie dark swamps and dense forests to searing lava caves, medieval dungeons, and forsaken towns. Your mission? To unearth the long-lost Sirian artifact and take down Mental once and for all. With a total of 10 levels to explore, this journey promises 5 to 6 hours of immersive gameplay.
Hunt for treasures and blast your way through hordes of enemies with some returning classic guns, now updated and loaded with new animations, such as the double uzis and the double-barrel shotgun.
