To be clear finding a secret is fun but sometimes the reward is really good and other times….not so much. Keep in mind this is all in my opinion.

S tier: Secret levels finding a whole new level/map rocks,

A tier: Permanent Upgrades it’s not very common in boomershooters but feels great when it happens.

B tier: Over heal powerup not in every boomer shooter but sometimes there is a powerup that let’s you have more then max HP not permanent but often nice to have.

C tier: Armor and heath pickups nice to find and have as backup if needed or use right away if low.

D tier: Ammo…ok so to be clear ammo is good. but the issue with ammo in boomershooters is 2 fold say you use two guns out of the 8 or more then the other guns you may find a secret area that has a lot of ammo for a gun you almost never use and do to that it is at Max ammo anyway, the second issue is more based off what game you are playing but most games have plenty of ammo in the main maps areas without needing to find secrets to get more.

F tier: Nothing thats in you found a secret area but you get only the sense of accomplishment.

I wanna get it on switch 2 and I’m curious how it has shaped up till now. I’ve never had the opportunity to play this title so it’s completely new to me. It is on sale right now for $23.99 which has me interested now.

You know, one liner charismatic protagonist, naughty strippers, tons of weapons etc.

Its an unfinished game with lots of problems but I feel like its got some great ideas. Like Duke shrinking down to the size of an action figure, and then borrowing some kid’s RC car and driving all over his casino? That’s epic.

Being able to pick up a rat and microwave it? Epic. Boosting your health points just by preening in the mirror? Epic.

This would have been a solid game if they perfected the combat system.

Notice that other legendary tier games also have their negative points but people ALWAYS talk about them in a good light. Like the cheesy voiceovers of the first Resident Evil game? That game has awful voiceovers with very little effort put into it, but somehow every reviewer talks about it fondly. Like its part of the charm.

Is there any noticeable difference between the switch and the ps5 version?

Do you know if there is any upgrade to switch 2 for the switch version?

You know how Duke Nukem was supposed to be set in the future? I feel like the final version of Duke 3D kinda made too drastic a shift from that. It’s still sci-fi, sure, but it feels far more grounded than what was envisioned for LameDuke or in Duke Nukem 2. And retail DNF went even farther in this regard, turning the sci-fi 90’s of DN3D into, mostly, the modern-day with some sci-fi elements (technically this is true for most Duke games after 3D).

So, any good maps that lean into the LameDuke aesthetic that aren’t attempts at “fixing” LameDuke?

I mean, I had to ask because I really enjoy the game for its writing as writing wise, the main character delivers snarky one liners while being able to efficiently kick her opponents butts with her arsenal.

The game is awesome in ways I cannot explain as despite coming out on an obsolete game engine, it had good gameplay design in the levels because the levels were intricate, but I just wonder where the boomer shooter genre can go next with humor games.
