Played this on Hard mode. I don’t know how it was originally(I couldn’t afford the game when it released) but with this remaster, Quake feels really amazing to play. The guns felt nice to shoot, and the enemies didn’t feel unfair – besides the spawn – or spongy. The thing I liked most about Quake was the time to play. The levels weren’t too short and were not trying to drag it on for more playtime. Also, unlike Doom 2, none of the levels were labyrinthian and felt like you were reaching keys, not looking for them confused. IMHO, the fourth episode was my favorite, followed by Episode 1, Episode 3 and 2. Now that I finished it, I wonder if anybody has any recommendations for what mod or expansion to play next( I beat DOPA already). submitted by /u/Present-Bottle-2129 |

Dude what the hell. I’m playing in a dark room and I swear, every time those mech enemies come up to me when I don’t expect it, I jump out of my skin. What the fuck are those weird Halo Flood looking things in the 3rd level?
The body horror in this game is unreal. Genuinely unsettling stuff for the time it came out at, and depending on setting you’re playing in, still freaky as hell today.
It has me wondering, what boomer shooter (if any) has genuinely scared you before? I like the feeling of crawling around a level, being half scared to enter the next room because of the uncertainty of what creatures lie in the next room.

Before the update the super shotgun would prevent you from blocking or parrying quickly while firing and reloading but in the most recent update they did a great job fixing that problem. I’m still in the first level but I’m loving it so far, love everything about it and the levels, assuming they are like the first level, take quite a bit longer than I remember the vanilla Q2 levels being like. Don’t even get me started on the music, ASCIIMOV did phenomenally well with my favorite soundtrack being “Extractor Plant Entity,” y’all cannot imagine the scrunch on my face when that song started on the second area of the first level.
Overall, the mod so far was everything I had hoped for: Awesome levels (I already know the rest are great if the first one got me hooked), great enemies, a good difficulty, a great concept executed pretty well and a great soundtrack.
Great job to everyone who worked on the mod 🫡… …Those Shamblers can fuck off though, they do NOT play around at all😭😭

The Jukebox is 100% stuck in the menu even in campaign mode, I can’t see the map, I can’t see my weapon challenges or my level objectives. Anyone know a fix? I’ve done a full reinstall of the game.

Basically the title but here are some more details.
PC Specs:
CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8-Core
GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 4070ti SuperMB: x670
RAM: 64G ddr5
Storage: 2Tb m.2 SSD
History with the game and more details on the issue:
I downloaded Doom: TDA the day it became available on Xbox Game Pass. The game prompted me that my drivers needed an update. There was one available, so I did, via the NVIDIA app.
The game couldn’t make it past the title screen without freezing, the game has never out right crashed on me. It just would just freeze and the only way I could close the game was to end it via task manager. I tried several troubleshooting tips, both from the official Doom: TDA FAQ, and other 3rd party sources such as Reddit and other forums. Nothing seemed to work. This is my first time making an actual post about it.
A week later Nvidia released new drivers. I downloaded them and to my surprise the game ran great. Got an easy 120+fps. Played through the first 4 levels with no problems. Took a break until the next day. Then the game itself got an update, and I was back to square 1. Since then there have been a couple of updates, both to the game and new Nvidia drivers. Sometimes it would allow me to load a save and get into the game but every time it would freeze within a minute.
