I know there’s been a little bit of controversy/discussion about this specific topic and here’s my opinion on it. I think revamping the glory kills is a positive change and could turn out great. 2016 and eternal sort of made a comeback for the melee finisher mechanic and since then we’ve got plenty of games that pretty much copy and paste that idea or make their own mechanics that are similar. I think the same thing could happen with the dark ages, I personally have never seen a game with a completely fluid melee finisher system with no hard stuck animations so it could be an innovation and spawn new games that improve on it and do their own thing with it.
Now for the speed I think it’ll be fine, the trailer is literally slowed down to show off all the fancy guns and shit so we really don’t know what the game play will feel like when it’s complete. I’ve heard that there’ll be a sprint button? If anyone could confirm that please do. I think a sprint button would be great- repositioning in fights, exploring and just QOF.
Finals thoughts: Another reason why changing the glory kills is good and almost needed is because for one they wanted to make it so you can kill a horde of enemies with just one melee and 2 if they brought glory kills back there would probably be reused glory kills like the double punch from 2016 and eternal. Yeah there would be more glory kills with the shield saw but I guarantee there would’ve been reused animations and it would turn me off to see a reused one even From eternal although I bet there would be one from 2016 and just imagine having the same animation as one from almost 10 years ago. I think the change was needed just to give the games more variety.
