• Cross-platform multiplayer.
• Added the final alternate actor, the lightning guard.
• A new setting that allows players to prevent automatically switching weapons on pickup.
• Text chat button has been added to multiplayer menus.
• Level statistics: such as kill and secret counts, have been added to the map screen.
• (PC) Added support for connection to a LAN address from the interface.
• (PC) Level editor now has a music jukebox.
• (PC) Lobby invitations can now be sent to friends from the main lobby screen.
• (PC) Add confirmation for starting a COMM-BAT game while playing single-player.
• (PC) Added support for `-file` parameter for loading custom KPF files.
• Old `-file` parameter has been changed to `-file0`.
• (PC) A new network stats option has been added to the options menu.

Lately we’ve mostly been hard at work on the console versions of the game (which are out now!)

And yes we’re still getting cross platform multiplayer working – which was probably not the best idea to begin with but HEY WE KEEP OUR PROMISES AROUND HERE.
Once that’s all sorted we can get back to working on ROTT: LE v1.1 which we’re hoping to have out for you before the end of the year!

v1.1 will hopefully include:

• The final alternate character (Lightning Guard)
• More multiplayer modes and maps
• Level editor music jukebox
• The return of Remote Ridicule?!
• An auto switch weapon pickup toggle (thankfully)
• Stats menu for map screen (secrets/kills etc)
• Custom Comm-Batt levels
• Netcode improvements!

But that’s not all. We’ve also been working on a physical collector’s edition with Limited Run Games – and you’ll be able to BE BURIED IN IT!

• “-editor” command line param now launches the game directly into the editor.

• “Muzzle Flash” accessibility option now prevents level illumination.
• Auto-map has had some changes to improve readability.
• Save games on updated maps will now restart the map from the beginning when loaded.
• Menu font now shrinks if menu title is too long.

Just in time for Steam Next Fest we’ve released the Shareware Demo (it’s just a demo) for…

Rise of the Triad: LUDICROUS EDITION.

The demo features one level (4 levels total) from each episode of ROTT:

• THE HUNT BEGINS
• DARK WAR
• EXTREME RISE OF THE TRIAD

  and our NEW EPISODE

• THE HUNT CONTINUES

Plus you will be able to experiment with a lot of the NEW features available in the full game – such as new HUDS, restored alternate characters, alternate weapon sounds, uncapped FPS, ultrawide support, different soundtrack options, full controller support, FOV sliders, LUDICROUS lighting and MORE!!!

We’ve really thrown the kitchen sink at this remaster and we hope you appreciate it.

It’s been a priest porridge ːPorridgeː HOT minute since we first revealed Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition at Realms Deep 2022. And we’ve been busy.

But we’ve only been busy because the Retro FPS community at large has been even busier.

Night Dive, New Blood and Apogee wouldn’t even be here if the events of the last 10 years hadn’t led us to this point.

So join us as we take a trip down memory lane during our ‘Rise of the Retro FPS’ panel we put on at PAX East a few weeks ago – and we’ll talk after…

So yeah, it’s taken us all a while to get to this point, but the good news is – there is nobody better to be making this remaster of THE Cult Classic FPS. Now let’s get into what we’ve been working on:

It’s as easy to use as we can possibly make it and features a ton of unused textures and items!

But more importantly…

These (optional) alternate versions of the characters will swap randomly depending on how much you want to see them, including enemies placed with the new editor, vastly increasing enemy visual variety!
