VR CHAMPIONS! WELCOME BACK TO AMID EVIL VR.

When we originally launched AEVR in 2023 it was primarily developed for the popular VR headsets at the time, most notably the Quest 2. And while we updated the game throughout 2023 and into 2024 we never truly brought it into the next generation… until now.


Here’s what we’ve been up to:

  • Vastly reworked axe throwing (it’s a little OP, but it’s a lot of fun!)
  • Improved tutorial (with axe throwing and controller options)

  • Improved weapon handling (they’re not toys, you know)
  • Improved planet throwing (because ball is life)
  • Improved boss fights (because they’re a big deal)
  • Improved performance (legitimately)
  • Improved lighting (ooh ahh)
  • Improved Valve Index controller support (use those grips)
  • Improved HTC Vive controller support (use those wands)
  • New gameplay and visual options (to better tweak your gameplay experience)


  • Tons of small balance adjustments, fixes and gameplay tweaks!

    (even messages to remind you how to get out of water bubbles)

This update was tested extensively on the Valve Index, Quest 2, Quest 3, Rift S and HTC Vive. And if you don’t have one of those particular headsets, do know we’ve tried our best to make sure every HMD and controller setup works as well as we can!


We’re keen to do another hotfix based on your feedback so please give it to us! (Use the forums or find us on Discord) And yes, we’re also going to try to finally add some achievements.

CHAMPIONS!

It has been just over two months since we launched AEVR like a planet into the void.

And today we bring you…

With fun new features like…

AN EASY TO FIND CHEAT MENU:



MORE WOOSHING SOUNDS WHEN YOU SWING WEAPONS
(we can’t show this in screenshots)

Plus… FIXES!
  • Protector enemies will now correctly damage the player when they do their ranged projectile attack
  • Crystal Mace projectiles will now correctly damage Confessor of Dawn enemies instead of phasing right through them
  • Confessor of Dawn enemies will now correctly attack the player instead of having their A.I breaking whenever they would repeatedly try to attack
  • Holding down the trigger to fire will no longer cause the Axe to continuously attack
  • Player will now correctly palm planets whenever they grab a planet out of the Celestial Claw
  • Level Fog/lighting no longer breaks on certain levels whenever the player saves & loads or goes into certain menus
  • KILL PLAYER cheat now correctly works in the Cheat Menu
  • Fixed a navmesh issue in E1M2

oh also: We reimplemented tiny screams for when the player either shoots or throws planet Earth 🙂

Up next we’ll be working on implementing HORDES OF EVIL endless mode as well as more fixes, changes and additions- so keep that feedback coming!

Virtual Reality Champions!

Apologies for the long delay in getting this update in your gauntlets.

We’ve been busy updating AEVR for various platforms and working on improvements and fixes while we bring you ENDLESS MODE! (Hordes of Evil)

As you can see – we’ve also added some experimental new features (like Slo-Mo Soul Mode) but more importantly – we’ve tweaked the way Green Mana weapons (Sword, Mace) work and even added a sensitivity slider so you can set how much FORCE you need to swing to activate them.


You can even turn Swing-To-Fire OFF in the options now – and just fire them like a gun. Which is weird. But cool. It’s VR, go nuts!

Here’s a (mostly) full list of changes:

  • Hordes of Evil Added (Horde mode, 3 levels)
  • New/Improved Codex
  • Added optional Slow-Mo Soul Mode (must be enabled in settings)
  • Improved detection of swing fire weapons (Whispers Edge/Star of Torment)
  • Improved visuals and behavior of final boss fight
  • Fixed bug where Index users could not consistently use Whispers Edge/Star of Torment or throw axe
  • Added option to make all weapons fire with a trigger press
  • Added a sensitivity slider for swing fire weapons (Whispers Edge and Star of Torment)
  • Improved visuals and readability of wall messages
  • Fixed teleport function of Obsidian enemy projectiles
  • Fixed a bug where enemies in parts of E7M1 didn’t move
  • Restored caustic lighting effects
  • Fixed missing collisions in some areas of some levels
  • Fixed areas in E3M3 where players could squeeze through gaps to skip portions of the level
  • Fixed a bug where the death screen would be red tinted
  • Planets can now be lobbed like grenades
  • Removed scary clock
